Posture Assisted Lying Systems (PAL)

The PAL is an important tool to assist a child as part of 24 hour posture management. It is also easy to use and is transportable. The block helps to maintain a better hip position in lying and consists of a central wedge, adjustable supports for legs and a pelvic strap. The material is breathable, washable and bacteria resistant.

While children are using the block, their position can be changed without removing components. It can be used for supine and side-lying, either for daytime or sleeping, either on the floor or in bed. Some children can move supine to side lying without assistance. The freedom factor is very useful during the night.

There has been research into reducing the risk of hip subluxation in certain groups of children. As a result, there continues to be professional support in the use of 24 hour postural management strategies.
